Ultimate Gymnastics Golden In Woodbridge
Airport medal detectors were pressed into overtime this weekend after Thunder Bay’s Ultimate Gymnastics returned home from the Woodbridge Invitational with an impressive stash of medals around their necks.
Six athletes represented the club in grand style, visiting the podium an amazing 30 times, earning 9 Gold, 11 Silver and 3 Bronze medals over the course of the weekend.
Setting the pace was Bryanne Simmons (Level 4–Age 12) churning out Gold Medal performances on Vault (9.75), Uneven Bars (9.275), Floor (9.475) and All-Around (37.00), while tacking on a Silver Medal for Beam to her tally.
Caitlin Stallwood (Level 4-Age 13) put forth her ultimate best, grabbing Gold Medals for Vault (9.50) and Uneven Bars (9.275), while bagging Silver in the All-Around (36.275).
Rylan Copeman (Level 6-Age12) mined Gold on Uneven Bars with a very solid score of 9.10, while hammering out Silver Medal showings on Vault (9.325) and Beam (9.20) and in the All-Around (36.425).
Erica Etreni, competing in the Level 3, Age 11 category, impressed with a Gold Medal outing on Vault (9.60) and a Silver Medal finish on Floor (9.225) all the while garnering a 5th Place finish in the All-Around.
The club’s Level 8, Age 11 entries, Christiana Collins and Katerina Hamar, closed out the weekend with very strong outings. Collins, nailed down Silver Medals across the board, putting a total of five around her neck for Vault, Uneven Bars, Beam, Floor and All-Around, while Hamar took home Gold on Floor, along with Bronze Medals on Vault, Uneven Bars and All-Around.
Next for the club is the Gymtrix Sunshine Classic in North Bay, May 28-31.
