Ultimate Gymnasts collect hardware in Minneapolis

THUNDER BAY -- Six Ultimate Gymnastics competitive athletes returned home from the Winterfest 2016 Gymnastics Competition in Minneapolis, Minn., over the weekend with an impressive take including 18 medals.   

Winterfest was hosted by Perpetual Motion Gymnastics at the Colin Powell Center in Minneapolis on Jan. 16 and 17. 
 
Grabbing their share of the bling being doled out at the 18th Annual edition of Winterfest were Erica Etreni, who took home Gold Medals on Vault, Floor and the All Around in the Xcel Gold Age 12 division; Rylan Copeman, who nabbed Gold Medals for Vault and All Around alongside Bronze Medals for Uneven Bars, Beam and Floor in the Xcel Platinum 13 year old bracket; Bryanne Simmons, with a Gold Medal on Vault and Silver Medals on Floor, Beam and All Around in the Xcel Gold Age 13+ division; Emily Martin who did her part taking a Gold Medal on Vault in the Xcel Diamond Age 9-13 category.

Martin also added a Silver Medal on Floor to her tally, while Emily Ukrainec earned herself a Silver and three Bronze Medals including in the All Around in the Age 9-13 Xcel Diamond flight. Rounding out the haul was Christiana Collins, who grabbed 4th place finishes in Xcel Diamond on Beam and Floor, adding a 5th Place finish All Around to her award total.
  
The club will next send their Provincial Squad off to Bracebridge, Ontario for their second of three required Provincial Qualifiers, with a berth in the Ontario Championships in Mississauga at stake.
