With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our Mother, Nana and Great Nana Agnes Mary Deleo on November 14th at the age of 95. Agnes was born and raised in Slate River, ON. She spent many years helping her family with the farm. She worked for Hawker Siddeley until she enlisted with RCAF. She held many positions with RCAF from 1942 to 1945 and was stationed in many cities across Canada. She was a member of St. Peter’s Church and the Slovak Ladies Auxiliary for many years. Agnes married Joe on January 11, 1949. They moved into the family home in the East End with Joe’s mother Teresa. Agnes began learning many Italian recipes from her mother in law. Together they raised their eight children.

Agnes was a strong, proud, devoted, selfless and compassionate person. She was very humble and was always willing to drop everything for those in need. She was cherished by all. Agnes continued the family tradition of pasta lunch every Sunday for family and friends and the tradition of their Christmas Eve/Boxing Day open house. Agnes’s doors and arms were always open as guests would be welcomed with smiles, endless food and a warm embrace. She enjoyed having all her family in her presence. Agnes has created many wonderful memories that will be cherished by her children and grandchildren for years to come. She enjoyed many activities especially bingo, dancing, music and watching all her grandchildren’s activities. She loved to travel and experience new places. Agnes was an avid bowler and excelled with her many trophies and awards. We take great comfort that our mother is now reunited with the love of her life, Joe who predeceased her.
