Miss Allison Ferne Bel, 34 years of age, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospice on October 27, 2023 after a courageous and difficult battle with cancer. Born on February 8, 1989, Allison attended St. Francis School, St. Patrick's High School and went on to study Travel and Tourism at Confederation College. For many years she worked as a travel agent, then later she briefly lived in Ottawa to work as a flight attendant. Allison also worked at Northern Physio as a receptionist and from there went back to school to become a nurse. She worked at the TBRHSC briefly and then worked at St. Joseph's Hospital on many of their units until she became ill. Allison loved spending time with family and friends, traveling, celebrating holidays, and shopping was a never ending passion of hers. She also enjoyed time at camp, caring for her endless collection of plants and she adored her cat Samoa who is now living with us and is much loved as Allison wished.

She is survived by her parents Don and Rita Bel of Thunder Bay, her sister Victoria (Brent) and she treasured every moment she spent with her nephew Arlin. She is also survived by her grandparents Fae and Gerry Lyngstad, Victor and Verna Bel, her Aunt Lisa Lyngstad and Uncle Mark Lyngstad, Uncle Dave Bel (Paulette), Uncle Chris Bel, Aunt Patricia Dale (nee Bel) (Jim) and cousins Daniel, Yolanda, David Andrew, Matthew, Laura and Cameron. She was predeceased by more distant relatives such as her Great Grandparents and Great Aunts, Uncles and second cousins.

Cremation has taken place and there will be a private family funeral at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. She will be buried at Sunset Memorial Gardens and a small sprinkle of ashes will also be scattered at her camp at Shebandowan.

We would like to thank all of her Doctors and Nurses at the TBRHSC Cancer Center who treated her with such dignity and kindness. Dr Asayev, Dr Ibrihim, Dr Anthes, Dr Laferriere, Dr Simpson and Dr Ward and the many nurses who showed her such professionalism, dignity and kindness at the Cancer Center. Thank you to Dr Migay and Dr Sellick and the nurses who truly were angels at St. Joseph's Hospice. And last but not least, Nurse Steven from Paramed who was her home nurse throughout everything. Allison thought very highly of all of you and as parents we were certainly grateful for each and every one of you that knew her and cared for her.
