Mrs. Amelia “Amy” Robinson died peacefully at the age of 91 in Bethammi Nursing Home on Friday, September 23rd, 2022 in Thunder Bay, Ontario with family at her side.
Amy was born on February 17, 1931 in Port Arthur Ontario to Dragutin and Matilda Petrovich midway into a family of one brother and three sisters. She attended Port Arthur Technical school and worked at Watsons Coffee Bar and Burkes Drug Store. She married Robert (Bob) Robinson, the love of her life, in 1953 and began their family shortly thereafter. Amy spent much of her time raising their five children. Upon retirement, Bob and Amy moved to Southern Ontario (St. Catharine’s) to be closer to their children and grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family and was always full of ideas for things to do and how to improve things around their homes.
Amy was always there for her children; whether it was dealing with illness or just giving simple advice or comfort. Amy loved to travel with Bob on many road trips exploring Canada and the US. She loved to get out for her afternoon coffees and socialize with anyone that was willing. Bob and Amy returned to Thunder Bay in October of 2016.
Amy is survived by her sisters Veronika Petrovich of Thunder Bay and Regina Potivin of Burlington; children Venessa (Michael) Robinson of Calgary, Steve Robinson of Thunder Bay and David Robinson of Surrey BC. She is predeceased by her husband Bob Robinson, brother Joseph Petrovich, sister Mary Sherlock, children Roberta Robinson and Patrick Robinson. Amy had 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Bethammi Nursing Home as part of St. Joseph’s Care group for their excellent care and dedication.
