Angelika “Angie” Maria Backor-Hellmann, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away on Tuesday, February 10th, 2015 at the age of 56 years.
Angie was born on December 20, 1958 in Montreal, QC. She later moved to Richmond Hill, Ontario in 1978 and again at a later date took up residence in Thunder Bay in 1983 where she lived for the next 32 years. Angie attended John Rennie High School in Pointe Claire, QC, and Bayview High School in Richmond Hill, Ontario. She later attended Seneca College, York University, and finally Confederation College where she graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1990. During her life in Thunder Bay, she worked for the City of Thunder Bay at the Thunder Bay Police Department, and at Thunder Bay City Hall, as well as the Port Arthur General Hospital after graduation.
Angie is survived by husband Brian Backor and daughter Rachael Backor, her mother Gerda Hellmann and brother Derek Hellmann (Kristine). Also surviving is good friend Claude Jolin of Grande Cache, Alberta. Angie was predeceased by her father Walter Hellmann in 1983. Her daughter Rachael was the love of her life, whom she passionately loved and lived for. Angie will always be remembered with love.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, presided by Rev. Chris Harper. Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior to the service. Should friends so desire, a donation in Angie’s name to the Thunder Bay & District Humane Society would be appreciated.
