Anne was born in Finland and as a child she came with her mother and brother to Canada to reunite with her father. She raised her family in Kaministiquia and was a former member of the Kam Community Centre.
Anne had a great sense of humour and loved to laugh. She loved going to bingo with her sister-in-law Barb. Anne enjoyed knitting and baking and always had a special place in her heart for animals. Anne was a hard worker and was affectionately known for being a “Stubborn Finlander”.
Survived by her children Wayne of Creston, B.C., Diane (Irvin) Heney of Kaministiquia and Judy (Larry) Huber; grandchildren Andy (Angie) and Steven Garneau, James (Ashley) and Tyler Huber; great-grandchildren Ryan and Brandon Garneau and son-in-law Bernie Garneau. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Predeceased by her husband Art (1978); daughter Wendy Garneau (2006); her parents and 2 brothers.
A gathering to celebrate the life of Mrs. Anne Setala will be held on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010 anytime between 2 and 5 p.m. in the Georgian Room of St. Joseph's Heritage. A private interment in the family plot in Riverside Cemetery will be held at a later date. Everest Funeral Chapel, 299 Waverley St. at Algoma in care of funeral arrangements.
