Obituary Candle

Annette Dolores Stemberger, age 79 years, passed away peacefully in St. Joseph's Hospice on Thursday, June 20, 2024, with family by her side.

Annette was born in Fort William, Ontario on October 4, 1944 to Frank and Yvonne Paradis. She was raised with her two sisters and educated locally. She was a very active person in her early years and even though she raised a large family, she always had time for others. Annette also found the energy to try several other careers in the hospitality and medical fields.

She was a lover of the outdoors and Mother Nature. Annette enjoyed spending time at Lac Des Mille Lac and going for long boat rides with her family. A typical woman, she loved to shop with her daughters. In later years, Annette enjoyed the life of a traveller belonging to the Sam’s Club RV Group. She and her loving partner at that time, Harold Wilson, spent many fun filled times on the road. Annette also loved to sing and spent some years as a member of St. Dominic’s Church choir. When she moved to the Happyland community at Kakabeka Falls, she made many new thoughtful and caring friends who loved to sit with her on her deck and chat the time away.

In the last years of her life, Annette bravely battled cancer. She received much support from her son Christopher (Janice) and son Joe (Lorie) who were at her side when she passed.

Annette is survived by her children Rudy Jr. (Deanna), Mary (Don), Claudette, and sister Jeannette (Jim) Frizzle as well as many grandchildren and her children’s father Rudy Stemberger.

She was predeceased by her daughter Trudy, parents Frank and Yvonne (nee Remillard) Paradis; sister Yvette and her husband Henry Siemens.

The family would like to thank all the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Rehab Centre and in particular the wonderful people in the palliative care area of 4 North and later the staff in the hospice area and in particular Dr. Bassuony who lent their wonderful care and support.

A Celebration of Annette's Life will take place at a later date. Should friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Annette to the charity of their choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
