Anton “Tony” Rogalla Passed away peacefully May 12th, 2016 at age 88 years as a result of complications due to Alzheimer’s.

Tony was born in 1928 in East Prussia.  At age 16, he was in the midst of WWII and a prisoner of war for 2 years thereafter.

Like so many, he then came to Canada where he was an Electrician by trade, providing all he could for his family.

An active member of his community, he was also a member of the Masons, Shriners and Scottish Rite. Throughout his life, Tony was a selfless, good-natured soul.  He loved the ladies and his signature “Hello Beautiful” was reserved just for them.  And who could forget that laugh!  He really knew how to have a good time and lived life to its fullest.

In recent years Tony resided in Grandview Lodge and lastly at Hogarth-Riverview Manor.  As Alzheimer’s took hold and his memories fell away, he lived in the momentwith his good nature intact.  We were so grateful he recognized us throughout, allowing us to enjoy with him the time he had left.

Tony leaves behind his children:  Greg (Zhanna), Daniel (Jackie Hodkinson), Audrey (James Fadyshen), grandchildren: Sarah(Xavier), Stephan(Olivia), Greta, Kurt, Eric, Courtney (Adam O’Connor) and great grandchild Keegan as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents and Johann and Anna, brothers and sisters: Agnes, Lucy, Veronika, Hedwig, Greta Franz and Johann.

As per Tony’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  There will be a celebration of life at a later date. If desired, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice.  We would also at this time like to thank the staff of Grandview/Hogarth; Hospital staff as well as his doctors in both Toronto and Thunder Bay.

And so his next journey begins!  We are honoured to have been able to share in this one.  You gave us so much and we’ll miss you Dad!
