Mr. Antonio Baggetta, age 80 years, passed away peacefully with family at his side in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, September 29, 2024. Antonio never gave up on life and fought courageously until the end and his family has taken comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering.

Antonio was born on January 29, 1944 in Siderno Marina, Reggio Calabria, Italy. He was married to Giuseppina Sarroino on March 1, 1970 and both immigrated to Fort William that same year. Together, they raised three children and spent 41 wonderful years together until Giuseppina's passing in 2011. Antonio worked hard his whole life to raise and support his family. He enjoyed gardening, making wine and being in the company of his cat Polly.

He was a dedicated husband and father who loved spending time with his family. He was overjoyed when he became a grandfather to his three grandchildren Dante, Ethan and Anthony. His grandchildren brought him renewed joy and hope after the passing of his beloved wife. Antonio was a child at heart and always went out of his way to make his family smile and laugh.

Antonio is survived and will be sadly missed by his children Graziella Baggetta, Maria Jezequel (Dan), Giuseppe Baggetta (Mindy) and his precious grandchildren Dante Jezequel, Ethan Jezequel and Anthony Baggetta.

Also survived by his sister Angela Muia (Giovanni), brothers Carlo Baggetta (Carmela) and Vincenzo Baggetta (Caterina), sisters-in-law Catuzza Baggetta and Franca Sarroino, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Giuseppina Baggetta, his parents Giuseppe and Giuseppina Baggetta, sisters Tita Fiorellino (Antonio), Maria Baggetta and brother Domenico Baggetta.

Funeral services for the late Mr. Antonio Baggetta will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024 with family and friends gathering in St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Church for the Funeral Mass at 11:00am. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, at 10:00am in the Church. A private entombment for immediate family and relatives only will follow the Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum, St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations in Antonio's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.
