1 Corinthians 15:55

“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”

Our Lord, in His infinite wisdom, called home Mr. Arthur Staal on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at the age of 72 to spend eternity with Him.

Arthur was born in Thunder Bay on April 20, 1952. In November of 1975 he married the love of his life, Ina Jaspers.

He worked in various jobs until 1981 when he purchased General Appliance Centre. Over the years, through dedication and hard work, along with longtime loyal employees, the business grew and became successful. Even upon his retirement in 2021, he remained interested and involved in his work until his passing into glory. He really enjoyed the business community in Thunder Bay and loved to chat with friends and valued customers.

Arthur enjoyed working on wrecked cars and motorhomes, golfing, whether at home or on vacation in Mexico. Recently, attending the racetrack was a highlight for Art’s week.

Arthur was an active member of the United Reformed Church of Thunder Bay and enjoyed teaching catechism. He was also a supporter of the Thunder Bay Christian School. In all aspects of his earthly life, he demonstrated unwavering love and service to the Lord, and he lived his life in this manner.

Art dearly loved his children, grandchildren, siblings and in-laws, nieces, nephews, but his greatest joy was the love of his life, Ina.

Arthur is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Ina; son Wesley (Shea) grandchildren Faith, Riley, Madelyn; son Myles✝ (Malinda) grandchildren Daylan, Preston; son Darryl (Kristy) grandchildren Emma, Carly, Peyton, Addyson; son Bradley (Morgan) grandchildren Esmée, Cortland; daughter Kayla (Bobby) Bolt grandchildren Scotia, Tilly. He is also survived by his sister Trudy (Pete) Kuipers; brothers Gary (Daune), Henry (Linda) and Norman (Karen); as well as many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his daughter in infancy, his son Myles, his parents John and Lammie Staal, his in-laws Herman and Alice Jaspers, brothers-in-law Pete Ploegman and Martin Westervelt.

Visitation will be held at the United Reformed Church of Thunder Bay (23 – Highway 130) from 6 to 9 pm Monday June 3, 2024. Funeral procession will leave the United Reformed Church of Thunder Bay at 10:45 am on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, for interment at Stanley Hill Cemetery to be followed by a memorial Service at 1:00 pm at the United Reformed Church of Thunder Bay. Officiated by Rev. John Ysinga. Should you desire, donations to Mid-America Reformed Seminary would be appreciated. Live stream of the Service is available at: thunderbayurc.com
