Aune passed away peacefully at the TBRHSC on Friday, March 25, 2016 at the age of 85 years.
She was born on October 4, 1930 at home in Gorham, living here all her life, except for a brief year on the west coast. Last of the John Korhonen family and last of the Korhonen cousins here and in Finland.
Aune will be sadly missed by her children; Barb (Royce) Misner, Nanaimo B.C., Carol (Mike) Pritchard, here, Lorna (Jamie) Loveday, here, and Andy (Pearl) Ojala, Invermere B.C., daughter-in-law Paula Ojala, her only surviving sister-in-law Sonja Korhonen, and very best friend and cousin Sylvia Myllyaho. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grand-daughter.
Predeceased by her first husband and children’s father Emil Ojala, son Tony Ojala (Claudette surviving), parents John and Agda Korhonen, brothers Paul (Eva), Walter (Dorothy), and Ralph Korhonen.
A reception will be held at the Harbourview Funeral Centre in the lower level reception hall, 499 North Cumberland Street, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. with a “Sharing of Memories” beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2016.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the TBRHSC Northern Cardiac Fund would be greatly appreciated.
