It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David a deeply loved husband, father, brother, grandfather and uncle.

David passed away peacefully at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital surrounded by his family and with the thoughts and prayers of his friends.  David is survived by his wife, Karen and his children Darren (Lisa), Dana (Lincoln), Christopher, his grandchildren Cole and Jake, his brothers Gordon and Stan and numerous nieces and nephews.

David was born in Sprague, Manitoba to Carl and Georgina Ringius (predeceased). His family eventually moved to Atikokan where he met the love of his life, Karen. David was a loving and devoted husband and father. David loved to golf and fish and enjoyed his time at camp. He was active in coaching and supporting his children and grandchildren through their extra curricular activities.

David was committed to his community, not only through his successful business, but with his volunteer work. David was the first chair of the board with the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, president of the Chamber of Commerce and he was bestowed the Ontario Centennial Award for his involvement with our community.

Although reaching many professional accomplishments, it was his deep commitment to his family and close friends that he was the most proud of. His generosity and willingness to help others without expectations exemplifies the type of man David was. He never hesitated to help others.

We want to acknowledge the exceptional care provided by Dr. Marie Cupello and supportive care given by Dr. Biman, Dr. Mozzon, Dr. Anderson, Michael – RN with ICU, Dr. Migay, Dr. Faghih and the professionalism and kindness demonstrated to David by the nursing staff on 1A and 2B.

Memorial services to celebrate David’s life are being held at St. Dominic’s church at 130 Redwood Avenue, West on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 11 am. Sharing of memories and stories about David will follow at the reception in the church hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in David’s name to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation and St. Dominic’s church.

B. David Ringius will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 11, 2017.
