Bernadette Lynch
Mrs. Bernadette Lynch (nee Griffin), age 90 years, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 24, 2021. She passed away peacefully in St. Joseph's Hospice with her daughter Katrina by her side.

Bernadette was born in Stonehouse, Dunleer, Co. Louth, Ireland on October 15, 1931 to John and Mary Jane Griffin. She met the love of her life, Christopher Lynch, and they were married in 1955. Together they brought their family to Canada, arriving in Winnipeg in 1967 and settling in Thunder Bay in 1972.

Bernadette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was her greatest treasure, always putting them first with love and kindness. She was a wonderful listener and was always willing to provide support and guidance to anyone who needed it.

A devout Catholic, Bernadette attended Mass every day as long as her health had allowed. Her faith was very strong and she enjoyed being a member of several prayer groups and volunteering, making many close friends in the process.

Bernadette is lovingly remembered by her daughters Katrina Hogan and Geraldine Winters; son Sean Lynch; grandchildren Chantel Crosson (Mat), Jesse Hogan (Sarah), Amanda Hogan (Nathan Martin), Ryan Lynch, Peter Lynch and great-grandson Connor Hogan. She is also survived by her sister Lena McGeown, niece Teresa Carter and many other relatives in Ireland, as well as her dear friends Maryann Lysak and Bev Budiselic.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Christopher, whom she missed so very much. They don't have to wait anymore. They are happy now together at last.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sister Leila Greco as well as the nurses at VON for their wonderful care over the years. Thank you also to the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Joseph's Hospice for all of the comfort and compassion shown to Bernadette during her time there.

Funeral Services for the late Mrs. Bernadette Lynch will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 with family and friends gathering in St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Church for the Funeral Mass at 9:30am, celebrated by Father Michael Mahoney. Private interment will follow in St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass, beginning at 9:00am. For those unable to attend, a video recording of the service will be available on the Everest of Thunder Bay website beginning on Sunday.

As directed by the Province of Ontario and the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, COVID protocols are still being applied in group settings. Capacity is limited to allow for social distancing of 6 feet, a record of attendance must be maintained and wearing of masks or face coverings by everyone is mandatory for those attending the services.

Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Bernadette to St. Joseph's Hospice would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James.
