Mrs. Betty McCauley, age 76, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Aug. 9, 2022 after a brief illness. She was born in London, Ontario on Sept. 8, 1945. Betty was only 14 when she met the love of her love of her life, Jim McCauley, and they married on Nov. 26, 1966. Betty worked as a Registered Nurse for several years and then proudly supported her husband when he grew his business as Owner/Operator of McDonald’s Restaurants in Thunder Bay.
Betty created the most loving home for her family and always made it the place to be for them and all of the neighborhood friends. She took great pride in her yard and had a true love and passion for gardening. She was lovingly referred to as Mother Nature for feeding all of the birds, deer and animals in her yard.
Many happy years were spent with Jim at their condo in Naples Florida. They both loved to travel and had the opportunity to see the world through their business. She loved all her trips to Duluth with her daughters, trips to Florida with Beppy and enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas in more recent years.
Betty was the heart and soul of her family. She was the most kind, generous and selfless woman who always put others first. People always described her as a classy, elegant and gentle woman. She will be remembered for her talent for decorating, especially at Christmas, and for her incredible baking. Betty took great pride in her grandchildren’s accomplishments and loved to spoil them. They always knew their Gramma would send them home with special treats.
Betty will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Michelle Fiorot (John), Laura McCauley (David Rocco), her grandchildren Gabriel and Jack Fiorot, her brother Ted Park (Debby), daughter Cathy and granddaughter Sarah Ficek, brother Ken Park (Sheila) and her best friends Beppy Merko and Gloria and John Butuk. Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband Jim McCauley, parents Dr. Grier and Shirley Park and her dearest friend Dorothy Sawicki.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to St. Joseph’s Care Group Hospice Physicians; Dr. Sellick and Dr. Miller and all the Nursing staff as well as TBRHSC and Dr. Capricci for all the care and compassion you gave our Mother during this difficult time. A special thank you to Beppy (Thelma) for all the love and support she gave to Mom (Louise) and our family.
A private family service will take place on Aug. 17, 2022. In lieu of flowers and if friends so desire, donations to the Toronto Ronald McDonald House Charities or the Thunder Bay Regional Northern Cancer Fund would be greatly appreciated.
Online condolences may also be sent to Jenken’s Funeral Home.
