It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bramwell Austin Perry, who left us on March 18, 2025, in Manitouwadge, Ontario, at the age of 81.

Bram was born on January 3, 1944, on Gooseberry Island, Newfoundland. At the age of two, he moved with his family to Glovertown, where he grew up before joining the Canadian Air Force at just 17 years old. After serving, Bram retired from the Air Force in 1966 and relocated to Thunder Bay to be closer to his family. A skilled electrician, he later moved to Manitouwadge to work in the mines, where he built a life full of friendships, hard work, and the simple joys of his favourite pastimes.

Bram had a lifelong love of sports. During high school, he was a passionate hockey player, and later in life, he took up curling and darts. However, it was golf that truly captured his heart. He played twice a day whenever possible, relishing every round on the course.

Though Bram spent much of his life in Ontario, his heart always belonged to Newfoundland, and he returned as often as he could.

Bram was predeceased by his loving parents, Tom and Winnie Perry, and his brothers Raymond and Jethro. He is lovingly remembered by his siblings: Effie Shinners, Donald, Viola Hulst, Melvin (Debbie), and Barry, along with his sister-in-law Joyce. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, and his golfing buddies, all of whom will cherish their memories of him.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the wonderful staff at Santé Manitouwadge Health for taking such good care of Bram over the past several weeks.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Bram’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, March 29th at the Manitouwadge Golden Age Centre from 1-3 pm, with an open microphone for words of remembrance at 2 pm. We invite friends and family to share their memories and stories about Bram.
