She was born in Zumbano, Italy on July 17, 1920. She married the love of her life, Mario Litrenta in 1950 and joined him in Canada in 1956 with their 4 year old daughter Teresa to begin a new life together. She spent the rest of her life dedicated to taking care of her family, enjoying her friends and being part of the Italian community.
For many years she was a very active member of the Italian Hall Ladies Auxiliary on Algoma Street. She especially loved spending time with her granddaughter Justine and had many talents such as gardening and sewing, to name a few.
She is survived by her loving husband Mario; daughter Terri Renaud (Don); granddaughter Justine Doughty (Jason); sisters-in-law Emily Marozzo and Josephine Litrenta; niece Rose Robinson (Errol) and nephew Gino Marozzo (Geraldine) and numerous nieces and nephews in Italy.
She was predeceased by her parents Santo and Annuzita Marozzo in Italy; her brothers Guilio, Gino, Francesco Marozzo; sisters Mary, Vincenza, Eva and brother-in-law Vincent Litrenta.
She will be deeply missed by all who loved her and whose lives were touched by her genuine kindness, wisdom and friendship.
Funeral services for the late Mrs. Carmela Litrenta will be held on Monday, July 19, 2010 leaving the Everest Funeral Chapel, 299 Waverley St. at Algoma at 9:50 a.m. to St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church for the Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow in St. Andrew's R.C. Cemetery. Visitation for friends will be held on Sunday afternoon from 2 until 4 p.m. in the Everest Chapel with the Vigil Prayers offered at 3:00 p.m.
