Carolyn Jewel White, age 49, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2022 in St. Joseph’s Hospice with family by her side, after fighting a brave battle against cancer.
Carolyn was born on June 27, 1972 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She grew up in Port Arthur/Thunder Bay where she attended Shuniah Public School and Lakeview High School. Her family moved to Dutton, Ontario where she graduated high school, then continued to pursue her education in Ottawa, graduating from Algonquin College, where she met her husband-to-be, Jason White. They were married in 2000 and moved to Thunder Bay. They were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Devyn, in 2007.
Carolyn worked in the bookkeeping and banking profession, and proudly became a full time “dance mom”. Carolyn had a passion for reading, but she also loved to entertain family, and loved to chat away. Her competitive spirit was also evident while playing softball, board games or cards. She truly loved organizing kids’ birthday parties and especially loved Halloween.
Carolyn will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Jason, her daughter Devyn, her mother Shirley Merkoske (Tom), her twin sister Christina Bree (Eric), father and mother-in-law Kerry and Darlene, brother-in-law Brad (Catherine), brother-in-law Joel, nieces and nephews Isaac and Avery, Alex and Olivia, and Christian and Eric JR.
She was predeceased by her grandparents Leo and Stella Merkoske, uncle Vernon Merkoske and cousin Paul Haywood.
Carolyn’s family would like to thank the Cancer Care Centre at TBRHSC (Dr. Chan & Karen), Dr. Marchuk and St. Joseph’s Hospice for their efforts and kind services on Carolyn’s behalf.
A Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, April 12 at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, presided by Rev. Msgr. P. M. Stilla, V.G. Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior. A reception will follow. The service will be livestreamed and archived at www.harbourviewfuneral.ca where condolences may be offered as well.
Should friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carolyn’s memory to the Thunder Bay Cancer Centre, or St. Joseph’s Foundation, designated to the Hospice Unit.
