It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Constance (Connie) Johnson (nee Montgomery) formerly of Minneapolis. Connie age 83 passed away peacefully at her home on March 5, 2016.

Connie was born July 11, 1932 to the late Percy and Helmi Montgomery. She grew up on Machar Avenue and shared many stories about life at the “Steam Bath” that her family owned.

In her youth Connie was an avid speed skater and her proudest moment was when she won the title of being the fastest female speed skater in Port Arthur. Connie lived her life to the fullest. She married Ralph Johnson in 1952 and lived in Port Arthur with their daughter Cathy, until they moved to Minneapolis in the late 60’s.

She enjoyed her career as an accounting clerk for a major company in Minneapolis until her retirement. Connie was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards, doing crosswords, and her trips to Las Vegas and Hinckley.

Connie was predeceased by her husband Ralph, daughter Cathy, sister Eleanor Moore and her brothers Patrick and Michael Montgomery. She is survived by her sister, Sandra Montgomery, her niece, Paula Begall (Don), niece Leila Pazianos (Tom) and nephew, Mark Montgomery and many family members and friends in Canada and the United States. Connie will be missed by all including her faithful companion, Diva, a rescue dog.

Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. If friends so desire, donations in Connie’s memory to the New Hope Dog Rescue (www.newhopedogrescue.net) would be appreciated.
