It is with great sadness that the family of Dan Telpuk announce his passing surrounded by his loving family, with dignity and courage on January 29, 2025 at the TBRHSC.

Dan was born to proud Polish immigrants Josephine and Frank Telpuk on January 4, 1959, the youngest of four boys. He grew up at an idyllic time in our world, a time of innocence where he was free as a young boy to play and get into mischief with his friends and older brothers. After graduation, Dan enjoyed a career as a truck driver for companies, Intermodel, Courtesy, and Gardewine where he was a dependable responsible employee. When his driving career ended after 40 years, he was proud of his exemplary record which showed no traffic tickets, no accidents, and no property damage.

More than anything Dan loved to be outdoors. He could often be found roaming his beautiful property where he spent hours making trails, beautifying the pond, and gardening. His favourite thing to do at the end of a day was to sit at his outdoor fire enjoying a coffee and the quiet peacefulness of his surroundings. Dan’s passion for anything related to cars and motorbikes, or the mechanics that made them operate, led to a lifetime of collecting and restoring old, vintage, and antique cars. Throughout the years, he was a regular at all the local car shows often entering his 1966 Mercury pickup. In later years, his greatest joy was teaching his son Steven how to rebuild and restore El Camino’s.

Dan will be remembered by all who knew him as a quiet, gentle, and kind person. He was someone whose needs were few because he enjoyed the simple things in life. Dan was a giving generous person who was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need, especially his family.

He survived by his loving and devoted wife Liz, his brothers Henry and Ken, sisters in-law Susan and Lorna, nieces Olivia and Elaine and his stepdaughter Kristy. Dan was predeceased by his brother Ed, his parents Josephine and Frank, his son Steven, and his stepdaughter Cortney.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim for his professional and compassionate care of Dan, as well as the nurses and doctors who cared for him in his final days.

In honour of Dan’s memory, the family wish to invite you to attend a celebration of life on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at the Sargent Family Reception Centre, 21 North Court Street from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. A private burial will be held at a later date. As well, to honour Dan’s love of nature, an outdoor gathering and bonfire will be held in the summer. In lieu of flowers, should you so desire, donations to the TBRHSC (Cancer Centre) can be made in memory of Dan. Online condolences may be expressed at www.sargentandson.com.
