It is with great sadness that we announce Mr. Daniel Hay, age 62 years, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital – Hospice Unit, with his loving family by his side.
Daniel was an engineer for CP Rail, where he worked for 20 years. He had an enormous passion for music and played with rock and country bands in venues in Thunder Bay and surrounding area. To say Daniel loved his family is an understatement; he was an amazing father to his girls and grandfather to the kids. He loved gardening, cooking, fishing, camping, and collecting coins. But most of all, he loved playing and watching hockey; especially watching his family play.
Daniel is survived by his daughters Amanda (Will), Jennifer and Melissa; grandchildren Daniel, Lexi, Avery and Anthony; mother of his children, Barb; his parents Monya and Brian; sisters Kim, Jacqueline and Sandra; brothers James (Kara), Edward (Laura), Chris (Terry) and many other loving family and friends.
Daniel was predeceased by brother Malcolm and nephew/godson Lee.
We would like to thank the wonderful staff on 1A at TBRHSC and the amazing doctors and nurses on 4 North at St. Joseph’s Care Group of Thunder Bay for their excellent care of our father during his battle with cancer.
A private service will be held for family at Harbourview Funeral Centre on Saturday, November 27 followed by a celebration of life later in the evening at Lakeview Lodge at 6:00 p.m. for all family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Joseph’s Foundation of Thunder Bay.
