Mr. David Raymond Novak, age 77 years, passed from this life Saturday, May 4th, 2024, at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Center peacefully with his daughter by his side.

Dave was born on July 14th, 1946, in Fort William, Ontario. He grew up in West Fort where he met and married Hazel Wasylenko, his wife of 49 years. Together they welcomed their daughter, Lisa Novak into their hearts and lives. Dave cherished his family and friends. He had close bonds with his sister and family throughout his lifetime and enjoyed visiting with them. He was always willing to help out if someone was in need. Dave was an amazing, supportive father that set an example through his actions of honesty and kindness. Dave is often spoken of as a man of integrity, a true gentleman, and a man’s man. He possessed a good sense of humour, sometimes dry, and enjoyed watching British TV comedies with his daughter. Dave was an intelligent, patient man that could fix just about anything. He also valued good work ethic and retired from Air Canada in 2005 after 20 years of service, as well, from Galaxy Lanes in 2017. He enjoyed his work and made many friends at both places. One of Dave’s passions was spending time at Graham Lake, a place of peace and happiness for him. He spent 60 years fishing, exploring, blueberry picking, and enjoying the land with family and friends at Graham. Dave also enjoyed spending time in his yard and garage at home. He took great pride in his yard, snow removal, and being a ‘good neighbour’ to the many friends he had in the neighbourhood. He spent his retirement years between camp and home and socializing with family and friends. His busy social life included daily chats with his daughter, BBQing,  spending time with his significant other Theresa, visits with his sister, Air Canada Retiree Breakfasts, coffee/lunches throughout the week at Galaxy Lanes, and time chatting with family and friends. He will be forever missed and eternally cherished by many.

Dave is survived by his daughter Lisa Novak (Matthew Veltri) and sister Val (Bob) Koslowski. Nephews, nieces, and cousins also survive.

Dave was predeceased by his parents, Anne and Roman Novak, and his wife Hazel Novak.

A celebration of Dave’s Life will be held on Monday May 13th, 2024, at the Oliver Road Recreation Center, with a drop-in from 12 noon – 3pm.

Should friends so desire, donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.
