Deborah (Debi) was called to her Heavenly home on December 2, 2021. She was born in Park Rapids, Minnesota on May 11th, 1956. Over the years Debi resided in Port Arthur ON, Superior WI, Calgary AB, Kakabeka Falls ON, Kenora ON and Thunder Bay.

Deborah is predeceased by the love her life, Henry, and by her parents Frank and Elvie Maunula as well as her grandparents, and other relatives (uncles, aunts and cousins).

She is survived by her siblings and their families, Stephen (Susan) Maunula, Michael (Tuula) Maunula, Sharon (Erick) Rantala. Her nieces and nephew Rebecca and Andrea Maunula, Katrina Maunula, Liisa (Rey) Okoh, Mikko (Caitlyn) Maunula, two great nieces and two great nephews. Numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive her.

Debi’s work career expanded forty-five years in community services at the local, regional, and provincial level. Her passions in life were her family, friends, pets, discovery of her talent and love of painting, dog sledding with Henry, and a love of music that encompassed her whole life.

She asked people at the end to “Tell her a story.” She cherished the memories that were shared, enjoying them beside her memory Christmas tree.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 2:00pm in Christ Lutheran Church, 47 Walkover Street with Pastor Brian Falkenholt officiating. The service will be livestreamed on the Christ Thunder Bay YouTube Channel.

As directed by the Province of Ontario and the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, COVID protocols are still being applied in group settings. Capacity is limited to allow for social distancing, a record of attendance must be maintained and wearing of masks or face coverings by everyone is required for those attending the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Lutheran Community Care or animal rescue programs.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James.

Debi’s wish for each of us is the words from this verse.
As you go on your way may Christ go with you.
May He go before you to show you the way.
May He go behind you to encourage you;
Beside you to befriend you;
Above you to watch over;
Within you to give you peace.
