Dionisio (Dennis) Bonofiglio, age 98 years, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Friday June 18, 2021.
He was born in Pietrafitta, Cosenza, Italy on September 11, 1922 to Francesco Bonofiglio and Caterina Quintieri. On April 26, 1947 Dennis married the love of his life Teresa Nicoletti in Italy. They resided in France for 17 years and he worked as a construction foreman. In 1969 he, along with his wife and two children, emigrated from St. Die, France to Port Arthur where he had lived ever since. He was a wise, hardworking, and loving man who always had a very positive outlook on life and a terrific sense of humour. His life was dedicated to his family and his passion was winemaking. He was a long-time member of the Italian Society of Port Arthur and the Alpini group.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children Caterina (Peter) Gallo and John (Kristen) Bonofiglio, grandchildren Lee (Megan) Potestio, Erika (Robin) and Andrea (Rob) Bonofiglio, great grandchildren Nadiah and Serena Potestio, Rylan and Avery Jackson, Jolene Harris, sisters-in-law Irma Scarcello, Ines Nicoletti, and Eileen Nicoletti, as well as by numerous other relatives in Canada, USA, France, Australia, and Italy. He was predeceased by his parents, one brother (Michele) and two sisters (Onorina, Erminia), and numerous other relatives.
Special thanks for the wonderful care received from home care providers and staff at 4N-Hospice Unit. Funeral Services will be held with family members only at St. Anthony’s Church on Thursday, June, 24, 2021. Entombment will follow in the Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum.
