It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Dominic Costa at The Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Wednesday, September 22, 2021.
Dominic was born on October 3rd, 1947 in Siderno Marina, Reggio di Calabria, Italy. He immigrated to Canada on May 27, 1954, and settled in Fort William, Ontario.
Dom worked in the Autobody Repair Industry, owning his own successful shop (Dom’s Auto Body) for many years. His craftsmanship and attention to detail spilled over into every project that he did…If Dom had a hand in it, you were guaranteed it was done right.
Dominic loved music, and as a “SouthPaw”, even learned to play guitar Right Handed, which inspired his children to also be musical in their lives. He also loved the outdoors. You were guaranteed to hear Waylon, Willie and Johnny on every drive to his favorite camping, hunting or fishing spots. His greatest joy came from spending time with his Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
Dominic is survived by his children John (Patty), Theresa (Paul), Maryann and Michael; Brothers Cosimo (Linda), Vince, Tony, John (Donna), Angelo (Donna) and Sister Rosa (Mike); Sister-in-law Sherry; Special Friend Judy, and the Brother in his Heart Cosimo (Donna); Grandchildren Ryan, Christopher (Cristy), Michael, Nick, Alex, Jenna and Tyler as well as his Great-Grandchildren Kara, Jacob and Cayden. Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
He is predeceased by his parents Frank Costa and Maria (Cordi) Costa and his brother Joseph “Pino” Costa (Sherry).
As per Dominic’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. Should friends so desire, donations can be made in his memory to the Northern Cancer Fund (payable to TBRHSF) or Diabetes Canada and would be greatly appreciated.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 Gore Street at James.
