With great sadness, we would like to announce that Mr. Dominic Donald Mastroianni passed away peacefully in his sleep at St. Joseph’s Hospice on Saturday February 19, 2017.
Don was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on February 2, 1939, the son of Marie and Cosmo Mastroianni. The family eventually relocated to Thunder Bay in 1950, opening a successful fruit and grocery business on Simpson street. Don was employed with the LCBO for thirty-six years retiring in 1994. In 1997, with his wife Pat, brother in law Bill, and son Mark, he owned and operated Giorg Ristorante until November 2014. Don is survived by his loving wife Pat, his son Mark, and his brother John.
Don was happiest amongst people; he epitomized customer service and was a class act, spending many nights at the restaurant entertaining customers at the weekly cooking classes and wine tastings.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday February 23, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the Blake Funeral Chapel. A private interment will be held at a later date. If friends desire, memorials to Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.
