It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald John Kreewin (Don), aged 82 years, at St Joseph's hospice surrounded by family on November 26, 2022.

Don grew up in East Kildonan (Winnipeg, MB) the eldest sibling to his sister and brother. After some high school, he took a different direction and attended the Manitoba Institute of Technology, graduating as a Radio Operator in 1959. He spent a few years working at Coral Harbour (CYZS), NU.  He then went on to become an Air Traffic Controller and received his licence in 1967.

Settling later in Fort William, he would meet Leah, and later marry her and become stepfather to her 3 girls.  He worked 25 years in Public Service before taking his retirement from Air Traffic Control.  With a desire to continue to learn, he attended Confederation College taking the Radio and TV Broadcasting course.  He fine-tuned his talents behind the camera with Maclean Hunter television, moving on to volunteer at Shaw Cable where Leah joined him. Don also worked at the Valhalla Inn as night manager for a number of years.

Don enjoyed oil painting, writing, and photography. He loved the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Jets.  He is the published author of The Invisible American. He also had short stories published in the Our Canada periodical.  He enjoyed contributing his thoughts through Letters to the Editor to the local newspaper.

Don is survived by his (step)daughters Debra (Dave) Hannaford, Brenda (Becki) Bedard, Sherry (Roland) Morettin; grandchildren Michael (Kristen), Chris (Kaitlyn), Caitlin and Eric; 5 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and brother Harold.

Don was predeceased by his wife, Leah; his sister, Velda; and, his parents Nellie and Harold.

Don experienced failing heath for a number of years, his family would like to thank those involved in his care from St Elizabeth (home care visits), and at TBRHSC (for times he was admitted). A huge thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff at the St Joseph's hospice who cared for Don during his final days.  He could not put up the good fight anymore, and has now moved on and is no longer in pain.

Cremation has occurred. Don did not want any kind of service.  He supported many charities, and donations in his memory can be made to the charity of your choice.
