It is with the saddest of hearts the family of Dorsey John Drew, June 28, 1934 – August 24, 2024, announce his unexpected passing. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandpa, great-grandpa and friend to so many.

Dorsey was the kindest soul you would have ever met. He touched so many lives and always gave all of himself to anyone who needed it!

Predeceased by parents Dorsey Joseph Drew and Josephine Kmet; the absolute love of his life Verna Drew; his son David James Drew; brothers Peter and Howard; sisters Lillian, Eileen and Vivian; sister-in-law Marion Wragg; nieces Doreen and Rhonda, and nephews Jeff and Jamie.

Survived by daughter-in-law Kim Drew; grandson Daniel Drew (Dawn); granddaughter Kristen Drew; great-grandsons Dio James Drew and Alex Dorsey Drew, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorsey and Verna loved travelling, and everywhere they travelled to, he knew someone! They loved golfing, curling, bowling and won many awards.

He loved his woodworking and built many bird houses, numerous different animals, and was always involved in the sales at the Kakabeka Falls Legion and other community centres.

Dorsey worked for the City of Thunder Bay for the majority of his working years – Delaney Arena, Centennial Park as Supervisor, where he built many of the items for the play area.

Verna and Dorsey lived in the city for many years. Upon retiring, they moved to Happy Land Trailer Park where they spent the rest of their years with the many friends they made.

A big thank you to the Paramedics, OPP, Thunder Bay Police and all who attended to him.

Dorsey requested no service; however, as he is one who most deserves recognition, we have decided on having a gathering on September 21, 2024, at 1:00pm in the Stanley Cemetery. We welcome anyone who would like to prepare a few words to say.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Diabetes Canada or Heart and Stroke would be appreciated.
