Dr. D. Mark Hodges, 57, of Wolfville, NS, beloved husband and father, passed away on May 21, 2024. Born in Ottawa, he was a son of the late John and Audrey (Allison) Hodges.

Mark’s family was the most important thing in his life, he loved going on family trips, taking his daughters to visit family, and taking them places where they could see and experience new things. His girls were his whole world. Mark had a long and meaningful career of 27 years at the Kentville Research and Development Centre, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada ("AAFC"), where he worked as associate director and as a scientist of plant physiology. It was at work where Mark met his close friends, Paulette and Christine. He enjoyed regular lunches and spending time with them, their friendship meant a great deal to him.

Mark is survived by his loving wife, Lisa (Waddington); daughters, Emily and Ashley; brother, Brett (Ester); mother-in-law, JoAnne Waddington; brother-in-law, Lee (Erin) Waddington; nephew, Matthew and niece, Sophie.

The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Snow and Dr. Segato for the care they gave Mark. The family would also like to thank the staff of the Valley Regional Hospital oncology team, and the staff of Valley Hospice for all the care and support they provided.

In accordance with the family’s wishes there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place.

A graveside service for Mark will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 11:00am in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3200 Oliver Road, Thunder Bay.

Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Hospice Foundation or the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation (oncology fund).

Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Kentville, Nova Scotia and to Everest – Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
