Mrs. Edna Charles (Migiskan) 88 years 9 months passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025, at Southbridge Lakehead Long Term Care Home.
Edna was born on April 10, 1936, in Cavell, Ontario.
Edna will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Georgette O’Nabigon; daughters-in-law Maryann Charles, Debbie Charles, and Trish Cringle; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband Raymond Charles Sr, whom she loved very deeply, married 65 plus years; her parents Sarah Migiskan and Charles McCrady; mother-and-father-in-law David and Marianne (Daisy) Charles; siblings Sam Shabokamik and Mary (Julia) Towedo; her children Terrance, Clarence, Glenna, and Raymond Jr. (Beatle); grandchildren Darren and Matthew O’Nabigon; and son-in-law Leslie O’Nabigon.
Edna, always full of smiles and laughter, loved serving her family and community in Ginoogaming First Nation. She loved spending time with family whether it was going to her camp in Hillsport, checking her traplines, or travelling on holidays. She enjoyed playing bingo, and shopping. She worked for Ginoogaming most of her life in various positions then moving on onto Referral Clerk until she retired as the Community Health Representative. Being a residential school survivor, it never stopped her from aspirations and success.
The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at Southbridge Lakehead Long Term Care Home and everyone that was there for her family.
The wake will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist RC Church in Longlac, ON. Funeral Service to follow on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 12:00 p.m.
If friends so desire, donations may be made in Edna’s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
