Mr. Edward James Emerick Sr., age 77 years, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Thursday, April 16, 2015 with his family by his side.

Edward was born in Burlow, Manitoba on November 15, 1937 to Adam and Mary Emerick the youngest of their nine children.

At age 12 he moved to Gimli, and then at 18 to Thunder Bay where he settled. He was a dedicated employee, working as a carpenter and foreman for over 50 years at Ed-Way Contractors and a member of The Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Local 1669.

He was a longtime member of St. Dominic's Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his dogs, camping, fishing, woodworking, helping others and listening to Elvis Presley.

Edward is survived by his loving wife Terry; children Kim Laroche (Pete Black), Edward Jr. and Shelley Emerick (Scott Srigley); step daughters Donna McDonald (Pat Ouellet) and Pam (Scott) Danelisky; sisters Lucy Marks and Magdaline Wardrope (both of Gimli, MB) and Annie Franz (of Victoria, BC); grandchildren Lindsey McQueen, Ashley Landry, Lacey and Christopher Laroche, Michelle McDonald, Megan Danelisky, Monique and Danielle Ouellet. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

He was predeceased by his parents, 4 sisters, 2 brothers and his children's mother, Carrol Emerick.

Funeral Services for the late Mr. Edward Emerick will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 leaving the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James at 10:30AM to St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Church, for the Funeral Mass at 11:00AM celebrated by Father Dan Lapolla. Interment will follow in St. Andrew's Cemetery.

A time of fellowship and reception will be held in the West Thunder Community Centre following the burial. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday evening from 6:00PM until 8:00PM in the Westfort Chapel, with Vigil Prayers offered at 7:00PM.

Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Edward to St. Dominic's Church or the Northern Cancer Fund would be greatly appreciated.
