Edward Prochnicki May 23rd, 1938-March 31st, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edward Lorne Prochnicki. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 31st, 2018 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center. Ed was born on May 23rd, 1938 in Ingolf, Ontario in the district of Kenora.
Ed will be deeply missed by his loving wife Mary of 56 years, his son Brian (Chrissy), daughter Shelley McQuat (Greg) and son Jeff (Kim), his 6 loving grandchildren: Jessie, Tori (McQuat) Braedan, Tyler, Daniele and Amy (Prochnicki), his siblings Walter, Anne, Joan and sister-in-law Sylvia and many other cousins, nieces and nephews.
After growing up in Raith, Ontario, Ed started a successful career as a Certified Survey Technologist in Thunder Bay and enjoyed a 33-year career working at the MTO and at the Regional Assessment Office retiring as the mapping manager for NW Ontario. After retiring in 1994, he had the opportunity to build his dream cottage on Shebandowan Lake. He loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his granddaughter Amanda, parents Peter and Jessie, brothers Nick (Evelyn), Mike (Merle), Bill and sister Peggy (Ben) and brother- in- law Walter Stedneck. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
A service to celebrate the life of Ed Prochnicki will be held on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street, with Heather Poulter presiding. Following the reception, the inurnment will take place at Mountainview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the TBRHS Foundation-Cardiac Cath Lab or a charity of your choice.
