It is with heavy hearts that the family of Egidia Marcella Tesolin (nee Luvisutto) announces her peaceful passing on Sunday, June 23rd, 2024, at TBRHSC at the age of 89. Egidia was born on October 1st, 1934, to Rosa (Pivetta) and Luigi Luvisutto in Pramaggiore, Italy. She was the second youngest child in a family of ten and lost her own mother at a very young age. Later in life, Egidia met a handsome young man from Azzano Decimo named Mario Tesolin, who stole her heart and was the love of her life. They were married on February 7th, 1959, and shortly after, they embarked on a journey to Canada, settling in Fort William, Ontario, in search of a better life. They started their family by welcoming two children: Tony and Claudio.

Egidia worked tirelessly as a housekeeper cleaning many homes of people who became lifelong friends. She also attended school to learn how to write and speak in English. She was well versed in her conversations and if you knew Egidia you were sure to always get in a good laugh or two. Egidia, a woman of great faith, attended Mass regularly. Selfless by nature, she volunteered endlessly in her church community and at Hogarth, bringing residents to communion, feeding them, and offering other assistance until her own health declined. She made thousands of rosaries which were donated to churches for children receiving their First Communion. In addition to the rosaries, she knit countless baby sets, donating them to the hospital gift shop and church bazaars. She was also a founding member of the CWL for St Dominic’s church.

Most of all, Egidia was a beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law and Nonna, who loved her family with all her heart. She dedicated herself to her family, especially her two boys, friends, and community, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Egidia will be deeply missed and survived by her children Tony (Anna) and Claudio (Catherine), grandchildren Sienna, Daniel (Alea), Ashley (Brayden), great-grandchild Eloise and sister Rosanna in Italy as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her loving husband Mario, mother Rosa and father Luigi, brothers and sisters in Italy and granddaughter Allison Rose.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 28th at 1:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior at St. Dominic's Church on Redwood Ave. Lastly, a special thank you to the wonderful Doctors and Nurses on 3A for your exceptional care of our Mother. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the TBRHSC Cardiac Unit.
