It is with great sadness that the family of Ms. Elda Mehagan, of Thunder Bay and Deer Lake First Nation, announces her passing, at the age of 64, at the TBRHSC with family by her side.

Elda was born in Deer Lake, Ontario in 1953. She came to Thunder Bay to attend high school and college, then went onto a long career in healthcare, working at Hogarth-Westmount Hospital and Options Northwest. She met her late husband Ken early in life in Port Arthur and they had two boys, Shawn and Brent. She enjoyed camping, traveling, and knitting, but it was all about being a great mom and wife when not at work. Almost every weekend in the summer was spent with the family at a campground enjoying a nice bonfire and country music.

Elda was predeceased by her husband Kenneth, her mother Kamina, her brother Henry, her sister Yvonne, and brother-in-law Brian.

She is survived by her sons Shawn and Brent, brothers Delbert, Hollie, Morris, and Kelly, sisters Bella, Ruthanne, and Nessa, her father Menassie, and a tremendous number of in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends of Elda will take place on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Harbourview Funeral Centre. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Donations may be made in honour of Elda to the Humane Society or Kitty Kare.
