Elo “Finn” Willman passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital, three days after his 88th birthday.

Born in Port Arthur, he spent his early years in Longlac and Hornepayne, where he worked the railroad for CN Rail. Eventually, he moved to Red Rock where he was employed by Domtar/Norampac until his retirement in 1999, following 40 years of service. He also served with the Red Rock Volunteer Fire Department for 23 years.

Like most northerners, Finn enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time. Sports were also important to him, both as a participant and spectator. He loved his Maple Leafs.

Finn is survived by his wife, Margaret; son, Jim; daughter, Will (Tammy); son-in-law, Paul Maxwell; and grandson, Josh. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Jackie, Dixie, and Nancy Cearnes.

He was predeceased by his parents, Onni and Aino; his in-laws, John and Olga Cearnes; and his brother, Waino.

Cremation has taken place. As per Finn’s wishes, no service will be held. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Northern Cancer Fund would be greatly appreciated.
