Mrs Elsie Nystrom passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre following a short illness. <br />
<br />
Born Aug. 16, 1934, near Vita, Manitoba, she moved to Geraldton in the late 1940's and then to Port Arthur in 1951 where she met her future husband Leo Nystrom. They were married in December 1953 & spent 58 wonderful years together. <br />
<br />
Elsie worked as a trained bookkeeper for numerous companies including Headway Construction and then for her son, Bryan for the last 31 years. Her greatest joy in life was her family. Always generous with her loving care, she cherished every moment as "Nana" to her grandsons Matthew & Michael & with her favourite feline "Sylvester."<br />

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Elsie enjoyed country music & made numerous trips over the years with Leo to watch various country artists. She also enjoyed bowling & card games with friends. Her bookkeeping skills translated into an interest to try her hand at casino games giving her & Leo an excuse to travel. <br />
<br />
Elsie will be lovingly remembered by her husband Leo, son Dr. Bryan Nystrom (Irma), grandsons Matthew & Michael & brother & sister-in-law Erick & Bonnie Nystrom. She was predeceased by her parents Lena & George Andrusyk.<br />
<br />
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 8 th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of theSargent & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Jari Lahtinen officiating. <br />
<br />
Cremation has taken place and a private interment service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the TBRHS Foundation-Northern Cancer Fund.
