The family wishes to announce the passing of Ernest Gordon Paisley, age 71 years, on Monday, January 26, 2015 with his loving family by his side at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
Ernie was born on November 10, 1943 in Hamilton, Ontario. At sixteen years of age, Ernie joined the Canadian Armed Forces PPCLI (Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry), moving west to Victoria, BC where he met and married his best friend, Sharron Koski.
They moved and started a family in Hamilton, but due to the love of the North they were drawn to Thunder Bay to live their life canoeing and camping. Ernie and his family spent many years making memories in the backwoods of Quetico Provincial Park.
Ernie was always very successful with numerous careers from driving bus with the City of Thunder Bay to driving transport truck with Palm Dairies, Paul's Hauling and finally retiring with Erb Transport.
Ernie was a loved and devoted Husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Ernie is survived by his loving wife of almost 52 years Sharron; sons Ernie (Catriona), Perry (Karen) and daughter Jeanne-Ann (Doug); grandchildren Andrew (Agnes), Christopher, Matthew (Robyn), Kevin, Danielle and Spencer and great grandchildren Alanna, Abbigayle and Rebecca. Ernie was one of six siblings. He is survived by his sisters Lily, Bette and Ann (Ken); sister-in-law Joan, brothers-in-law Larry and Martin as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother Beulah, father Ernest, sister Olive, brother John and brothers-in-law John, Bev and Jerry.
A celebration of Ernie's life will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma. Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice.
