Ernest Michael “Mike” Hale, of Johnson Avenue, passed away on February 15, 2015 after a lengthy illness.

Mike grew up in the Toronto area, moving to Thunder Bay in the 1970’s to pursue employment in the sheet metal trade.

Mike was a quiet, spiritual man who loved to laugh.  He was a proud and loving member of Alcoholics Anonymous, celebrating 33 years of continuous sobriety.   Mike enjoyed the simple things, never expecting much but always giving whole heartedly.  He was a man’s man and was well respected for being a man of his word.   Mike enjoyed it when he and JoAnne would travel the country, always returning with questionable tales of near Casino wins and tales taller than the last trip.  Mike loved his life.

Mike is survived by three sons: Brad (Paula), Thunder Bay; Brandon (Chantelle), Ignace;  Danny (Mandy), Winnipeg;  7 grandchildren: Donovan, Austin, Shelby, Brandi, Bradley, Jade and  Gage; 1 great grandchild Wyatt.  He will also leave behind JoAnne Taylor, his partner of 14 years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 20th in the Moose Hall, S. May Street.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Sick Children’s Hospital would be appreciated.
