Eva David

It is with profound sadness that the family of Eva David announce her peaceful passing with family by her side on October 4, 2024 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on October 4, 2024. Eva was 86 years of age.

Eva was born on August 18, 1938 to proud parents Jan and Gisela Maca (Macova) in Telgart, Slovakia.

As a young woman in Czechoslovakia, she attended Masaryk University – Faculty of Pharmacy in Brno.

Following post-graduate study Eva was employed at the Institute of Biophysics of the Czech Academy of Sciences.

Just after Czechoslovakia was invaded in 1968, she immigrated to Canada with her daughter to join husband Emil, who was already there on a work-related research trip. They resided in Quebec for about two years where Eva worked at McGill University as a medical assistant in Cardiology, and had son Ron in Montreal, in 1969.

The family relocated to Woodstock, ON in 1970. Eva was then employed by Woodstock General Hospital as a Pharmacist until 1976.

Eva moved to Thunder Bay in 1976, as new opportunities arose there for the family, and stayed since that time. She worked at Port Arthur General Hospital until that hospital was replaced by the TBRHSC, at both in Pharmacy, until her retirement in 2004.

Eva embodied the best qualities of unconditional love, strength of spirit, and unending generosity that could be seen in the care of her family throughout her life. Her family was her greatest love and she embraced them with all her heart.

Eva was an avid traveller, enjoyed camping, and family get-togethers. She travelled to countries around the world on her vacations; Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Jamaica, Greece, were just a few of those, and also many other European countries. During her retirement she enjoyed winters in Mesa, Arizona along with her good friend Vince.

Eva valued her close friends and enjoyed spending time with her groups in Thunder Bay, especially with the Volleyball club and culminating with the Pickleball group during the latter years.

Eva will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her children Ron and Susana David, her sister Miroslava (Poncova), niece Marcela (Blatna) with her sons Lukas, and Michal, as well as numerous other distant relatives. She was predeceased by her parents Jan and Gisela and her former husband Emil.

Cremation has taken place and no funeral or services will be held. In lieu of donation or flowers, she requested for friends to remember her by doing a good deed or helping somebody out.

She would also like to thank the doctors and staff at the Thunder Bay Cancer Clinic and the TBRHSC for their professionalism and care during the last several years.
