Brescacin Frances

Frances Brescacin  (Fedori) passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 20, ’Family Day’, surrounded by her loved ones. Born September 12, 1924 in Fort William, she attended Ogden School and Fort William Collegiate. Mom worked at Wengers for ten years, then at Canada Car from 1951 to 1952 when she married Mario. They shared sixty-four years together, raising four children with Dad working and Mom the heart of our home. She was a willing babysitter for her grandchildren and excellent cook for family meals, especially Christmas Eve. The cookie jar was always full.

Ukrainian heritage and church were important to her. Frances worked hard in the Transfiguration and Holy Cross parishes at events, perohi, choir, youth group, bingos, Ladies of St. Anne and Holy Cross Golden Agers. She excelled in sports such as softball (The Forts, Supreme Cleaners) and bowling. Playing cards, solving crosswords and being family Scrabble champion kept her mind sharp while her body presented challenges.

Frances is survived by husband, Mario; children,  Lois (Craig) Lawrence of B.C., Ken, Janet (Pat) Bushby, Susan (Taras) Dygun and grandchildren Crystal Lawrence, Michael and David Bushby, Colin Brescacin, Nicholas and Sara Dygun, brother Edward (Stella) Fedori, sisters-in-law Kay Fedori and Elsie Pagliaro, nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was predeceased by her parents Alexander and Elizabeth (Strozek) Fedori, brothers Zeon (Anne) and Ronald, sister Helen (William), nephew Richard Lysak and grandson Jesse Lawrence.

Cremation has taken place. Panachyda,  Thursday, February 23, 7 p.m. Church of the Holy Cross and mass Friday, February 24, 10 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Cross followed by interment.  Donations to the church or the renal unit at TBRHSC are welcome.
