It is with great sadness that the family of Francesca Tittaferrante (nee Ruiz) announces her passing on October 13, 2016 at the age of 95 years with family at her bedside. Francesca was born in Catania, Sicily in 1921 to Giovanna and Rosario Ruiz. She immigrated to Canada (Longlac) to marry her husband Alberto Tittaferrante in 1955. She proudly raised her two sons, Levino (Sicily, 1957) and Giovanni (Port Arthur, 1959). Francesca began her career in Sicily as a school teacher. Upon moving to Longlac, she stayed at home to raise her sons. In 1993, Francesca moved to Thunder Bay, living with her son Giovanni and his wife Jeanne. Francesca moved into Bethammi Nursing Home in August 2013.

Francesca had a strong spirit and open heart. She was a whimsical woman with a heart of gold. Her strong loyalty and dedication to her family will always be in our hearts. She was a devoted member of Corpus Christi Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Francesca had a great love for all theatrics, reading, watching classical movies and beautiful sunny days that reminded her of home. Thank you for sharing your abundant amounts of love, we will always carry this love in our hearts.

Francesca will forever be remembered by her sons Levino (Bonnie) and Giovanni (Jeanne); grandchildren Angie (Richard), Terry, Hanna (Pascal), Tara (Jory), Massimo (Stephanie), Alexandra (Xander), Isabella (Norman), Olivia and Allana; great grandchildren Julia, Gabriel and Harper Rose. She was predeceased by her husband Alberto Tittaferante (1980), her parents, brother and sisters.

The family would like to thank the staff at Bethammi Nursing Home for your kindness and compassionate care for Francesca and the support during this difficult time.

A visitation for Francesca will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2016. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Sargent and Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street. Interment will follow at St. Andrew’s Cemetery.
