Frank Brian MacKenzie, age 59 years, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on August 17, 2016, after a short and courageous battle with cancer.
Brian was born on December 28,1956 in Marathon, Ontario and later moved to Toronto and attended George Brown College to pursue his Instrument Mechanic and Instrumentation Engineering Technologist diploma. Brian met his wife Rosemarie at the Marathon Curling Club and they were married in September 1981.
They settled in Thunder Bay where they raised their family together.
He was employed in various jobs throughout his lifetime such as, Marathon Pulp and Paper, Provincial Papers, NCR, Gullevin International INC. and most recently Canada Safeway Limited.
Brian was proud of his three children and their accomplishments.
He enjoyed attending their many educational and sporting events. Brian was a sports buff, and took great pride in watching his son play hockey, and his daughters excel in dancing and gymnastics.
He enjoyed many hobbies including, working on his camp, listening to music, reading and researching. Brian loved working with technology and was always willing to lend a hand with the newest gadget. Brian will be best remembered for his kind and caring nature, wit and sense of humor.
Brian will be lovingly remembered by his wife Rosemarie, his daughters Ashley (Tyler) Hailstone, Brittany, and son Taylor, grandson Joseph Hailstone, mother Evola MacKenzie, sisters Linda MacKenzie (Nick) and Elaine Bradford, brother Raymond MacKenzie (Margaret), father-in-law and mother-in-law Francesco and Maria Marasco, brother and sisters-in-law Robert (Carol) Marasco, Loretta (Kirby) Richter, Salvatore Marasco, and Mary (Jeff) Gotta. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, along with many other relatives. Brian was predeceased by his father Frank MacKenzie, sister-in-law Michelle Marasco, and his grandparents.
Funeral Services for Brian will be held on Monday, August 22, 2016 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, beginning at 11:00 a.m. presided by Rev. Gordon Holroyd.
Interment will follow the reception in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Harbourview Funeral Centre from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Brian to the Northern Cancer Fund or to the Northern Cardiac Fund would be greatly appreciated.
