Frank Robert Vidotto

To say a grieving family is an understatement, nevertheless the family of Frank Robert Vidotto must share news of his passing.

Frank passed away unexpectedly on September 27th, 2024 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with his family by his side.

Frank grew up in the north end attending St. Margaret’s School, and Lakeview High School. Frank made many lifelong friends there, attested to that by the weekly morning breakfast with his buds.

Frank’s career was in carpentry, starting at Gateway, then at Finnway and ultimately at Lakehead University where he was still employed. Frank just turned 64, with only one more year until his dream job was to begin, Captain Frank.

Frank was a kind and patient man known for his sense of humor, quick wit and uncanny ability to recall both useful and useless trivia facts. He was a jack-of-all-trades who was always willing to lend a hand or patiently share and teach what he knew. He was an avid fan of the Boston Celtics, Boston Bruins and the Miami Dolphins.

Frank is survived by his life partner and love Lisa (children Ben and Hannah); his daughter Rachael (Jesse); granddaughters Morgan and Audrey; his brother Mark and David (Maria) and sisters Lori and Bunny, as well as numerous family members and friends.

Frank was predeceased by his mother Isabel, father Gastone, brother Bruce (Natalie) and sister-in-law Valerie.

To say he will be greatly missed is truly an understatement. The deficits he filled in mine and Hannah’s life have now been left with craters. I know Rachael and the family feel the same.

Many thanks to the incredible team on 3A and the Intensive Care Unit at TBRHSC for the caring and compassionate care they gave to Frank, and showed our family.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Frank's life on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 12:00pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #5, 229 Van Norman Street.

Please come ready with stories to share. I know there are lots. If Frank were here, he’d say it sounds like we are planning a Dean Martin Celebrity Roast.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Humane Society of Thunder Bay would be fitting with Frank's love of animals.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.
