Frank Wywrot, 91 years of age and a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday Feb. 4 2011.
Frank was born, Jan. 31, 1920 in Fort William. He was enlisted in the Canadian Armed Services Corp. from June 19, 1941 until his discharge Nov. 23, 1945. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch no. 6 for the last 58 years.
He was employed by the City of Thunder Bay for 34 years and was a member of the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 87 until his retirement in 1982. He was a lifetime member of the Thunder Bay Musicians Association Local 591.
He was also a long time member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church. He was married to Theresa Edith Hicke on June 15, 1950. Frank was a loving husband and father and remained married for over 60 years until his passing.
Frank was an avid outdoorsman. He loved being in the woods perusing his most favorite hobbies of hunting and fishing and would reminisce for hours of his experiences with his sons, nephews and friends.
Music was a big part of his life. He also enjoyed gardening, repairing his vehicles, garage sales, scavenger hunting, watching deer on the islands and his time on the computer. He most enjoyed the time he spent with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Frank is survived by his wife Theresa Wywrot of Thunder Bay, son Wayne Wywrot and daughter-in-law Diana of St. Albert Alberta, son Larry Wywrot and daughter-in-law Doneta of Pooler Georgia, grandchildren Michelle Johnson of Campbell River BC, Kelli Sholdice of Red Deer Alberta, Johnathan Wywrot of Fort Saskatchewan Alberta, Thomas Wywrot of Nashville Tennessee, and Michael Wywrot of Pooler Georgia, brother Peter Wywrot of Indio California, great grandchildren Maklin & Samuel Johnson, and Olivia Sholdice and numerous nephews and nieces. Frank was predeceased by his mother and father Anna (Babba) and Frank Wywrot of Thunder Bay, brothers and sisters Bruno Wywrot, Michael Wywrot, Walter Wywrot and Elizabeth Konderka all of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Joseph Wywrot of Vancouver, and sister Julie McEachern of Toronto.
You were wise, strong and a quiet gentle leader. You always took the proper path. Gramps, we love you very much and miss you deeply.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at the Blake Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Dan Lapolla c.s. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
