Mr. Gerald (Gerry) Thomas Gillson, age 93 years a lifetime resident of Thunder Bay passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Care Group on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010.
Gerry was born in Port Arthur, Ontario on January 11, 1917 to Thomas and Anne Gillson. He attended Our Lady Of Loretto Separate School and Hillcrest High School. Gerry worked for Mahon Electric as an electrician until the Second World War broke out.
During the war, he served as a Provo Officer with the military police stationed out of Camp Borden. After his discharge, he started work in 1946 as an electrician for the Port Arthur Transit System working on the trolley buses. He transferred to Port Arthur Hydro, working as a station maintenance electrician, retiring in 1982 as Electrical Superintendent for Thunder Bay Hydro. Gerry was member of Corpus Christi R.C. Church.

He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years Edna Mae in 2008, his parents Tom in 1967 and Anne in 1966 and by two brothers Howard and Jack.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children Evelyn, Tom (Wanda) and Gerry (Sylvia), grandchildren; Kevan, Ashley (Peter), John, Jason, Jeffrey (Tricia) and Gregory Gillson. He is also survived by his sister Reta Poleck, sister-in-law Lillian Gillson as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 15th at 11 a.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street with Rev. Richard Kowalchuk presiding. Interment will follow in St. Andrew’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Nov. 14th from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel.
