It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerry Cullen, who left us peacefully on August 10, 2024. Gerry lived a full and remarkable life, and he will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

Gerry is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Julie Cullen; his sister Bernadette in England; his children Bernard Cullen (Samantha) and Elaine Vidas (Kevin); and his stepchildren Stacey Pearce (Feliz), Troy Pearce (Carolee), and Jason Pearce (Amy).

Gerry will also be fondly remembered by his cherished grandchildren: Grace, Katie, Bradley, Matthew, Jasper, Giselle, Solaine, Liryn, Kaidyn, Riley, and Graedon; as well as his cousin Austin (Linda) and numerous nieces and nephews across the Atlantic.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to Jim Pineau for his steadfast support, the team at St. Andrews for their spiritual guidance, and Nancy, Peter, and the neighborhood crew for all their aid and support.

Special thanks are reserved for the Shibanis (his Kosovo family), Jim and Dianne, Jack, Ray and Marilyn, and the golf guys -- all long-time friends.

It was also important to Gerry to offer a word of appreciation to all of the support workers and medical providers who have assisted him and Julie.

Gerry was deeply influenced by his time in the De La Salle Brotherhood, where he spent 17 years before embarking on his second act in Canada. As such, Gerry’s life was a testament to love, generosity, and service. He will be remembered with great fondness and respect by all who had the privilege to know him.

A private graveside service for family will be held, with a celebration of Gerry’s life to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerry’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Thunder Bay or the Dew Drop Inn at St. Andrew’s.
