With heavy hearts we announce that Ms. Gina Marie Veltri age 61, after a short but hard-fought battle with cancer, passed away peacefully in St. Joseph’s Hospital on April 24,2022 with her family by her side.
Gina was born in Thunder Bay on Jan 3, 1961. She worked at LACL in earlier years as a secretary. Later she worked at Safeway, Renco and Shoppers Drugmart in cosmetics.
Gina had a real knack for decorating. She enjoyed painting everything (literally) always ready with a paintbrush in hand. Gina was always happiest out in the sun in her yard gardening, planting beautiful flowers and digging those trenches and of course getting that suntan. Her home was always beautiful and welcoming. She loved to spend time with friends and family who she adored. And her pride and joy her Chihuahua Mimi who was her sidekick to the very end.
Gina will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by family and friends. Her daughters Shannon (Dan), Ashley (Jason), grandsons Ethan, Cole and Calen. Brother Gerry (Sue).
Predeceased by her father Robert Veltri, mother Eileen Prystay and stepfather Eugene Prystay.
A special thank you to hospice staff at St. Joe’s, her doctors, and homecare for the amazing care she received in her last months.
Cremation has taken place. a Private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Gina had hopes of volunteering at the cancer clinic. If friends desire, donations in her memory may be made to the Cancer Clinic at TBRHSC.
