We are saddened and shocked that God found a space in his gardens & took our father, husband, uncle, nonno, cumpari, brother-in-law, cugino and friend, Mr. Giorgio Milano, on Thursday, February 15, 2024. Our father was the most kind and warm-hearted father in many ways. He passed with his family by his side. Giorgio was born in Castiglione, Cosentino, Italy on October 1, 1937.
He worked for the United Grain Growers and several construction companies. His first construction job was with Piero's Contracting, Panotin, Gasparotto, and Northern Wood Preservers.
Giorgio was a very kind-hearted man. He made sure his family had food on the table and their needs were met. He helped many people and friends with their gardens by foot and he enjoyed it.
Giorgio volunteered for many years in St. Joseph's Care Group, including the LPH. He was always alert when it was his turn to volunteer. Some days he received a call to see if he was able to help out. He was very well known in the community. For all who knew him, Giorgio met friends on the streets, stores, groceries stores and started his conversations by just saying “Hello how are you?” Our father was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan. He enjoyed watching games with his family, and he went with his 2 sons to watch the Leafs live in Winnipeg, Minneapolis, and Toronto. He enjoyed the time & scenery in & around the CN Tower.
Giorgio had a language barrier but was a very hard worker in every department. He was a very intelligent man. He learned many things on his own. Giorgio checked his own vehicle by adding the fluids & put the charger on if his car would not start. He learned from his older son, who was mechanically inclined, with knowledge. Always ready & willing to help out.
Giorgio was a very close friend of the Galle's, Marino`s, Papa`s. He was treated & respected like he was part of the family starting from the first time he met them. He was very proud of being part of their families. He helped them all the time. Our father spent many hours & days helping them with their gardens. Pina was like a sister to him and Bruno helped him when he needed something.
Our father had few best friends that were special to him like Luigi Fragale, Rocco Tarsitano just to name a few.
He enjoyed the company of his grandson`s puppy Tika. He did lots for the dog. Bought him food, treats, and brought him for walks.
Giorgio is survived by his loving wife Rita of 64 years, sons Gaetano (Barbara) and Nino (Marie); grandson Joey (fiancee Stephanie); sister-in-law Anna DeSantis (Gary); nephew & nieces Joseph, Tina (Scott) Michon, Nancy (Warren) Killborn, & many more in Italy & France.
He was predeceased by his sister Gilda (Italo) Fuoco, sister-in-law Natalina (Silvio) Spadafora, brothers-in-law Giuseppe (Carmelina) Falcone, Mario (Franca) Falcone.
Funeral Services for the late Mr. Giorgio Milano will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 with family and friends gathering in St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church for the Funeral Mass at 11:00am, officiated by Father Luigi Filippini and concelebrated by Msgr. P.M. Stilla, V.G. and Deacon Pasquale Coccimiglio. Entombment will follow in Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum at St. Andrew's Cemetery.
