Giuseppe Colistro

COLISTRO- Mr. Giuseppe Colistro, age 67 years, passed away peacefully with his family at his side in the T.B.R.H.S.C. on Wednesday, June 9, 2010. Giuseppe was born in Grimaldi, Cosenza, Italy on July 21, 1942 to Fortunato and Faustina Colistro. He came to Canada in 1965, settling in Port Arthur. He worked for nearly 30 years with C.P. Rail before his retirement and was an active member of the Italian Cultural Centre where he volunteered for many various functions. Peppino enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and traveling. His greatest love was found in time spent with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. A man who possessed a great sense of humor and an infectious smile, Peppino made everyone around him feel at ease. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Raffaella, sons Fortunato (Tori), and Mario (Sheena), daughter Sarah Colistro, grandchildren: Joseph, Luciana, Tahlia and Lucca; brothers and sisters Francesco (Lina) Colistro, Rosaria (Joe) Romano, Stella (Frank) Pino, both of Sault Ste. Marie, and Celestino (Rosa) Colistro, brother-in-law Rosario (Vera) Larizza, sister-in-law Serafina (Mario) Palomba as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Mario. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 leaving the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street at 9:30 a.m. to St. Anthony's R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 10:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Maurizio Maifredi c.s. Interment will take place at a later date in St. Andrew's Cemetery. Visitation for friends will be held on Monday, June 14th from 6-8 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel where the Vigil Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. As expressions of sympathy memorials to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
