Helen Sas, lifetime resident of Thunder Bay passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.

She married the love of her life William Sas and together had one son, Gerald. She was predeceased by her loving husband, William in 2009, they had been married for 63 years.

Helen was an amazing cook and baker. She worked at Safeway for many years in various positions before becoming a cake decorator there. She loved entertaining her family and many friends with delicious meals. She had a flare and an eye for detail. Her table was always amazing and inviting and the food tasted better than any restaurant. You always felt special and welcome when you were invited to the Sas house for a meal. Helen and Bill were always there to lend a helping hand to those who needed it and were supportive to so many people.

Helen is survived by her son, Gerald; daughter-in-law, Brenda; grandson, Evan (Maddy); brother, Walter Reszitnyk; sister, Antionette (Arne) Just; brother-in law, Mike Sas; sister-in law, Rose Sas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She loved her family and home. She was so proud of her grandson, Evan and enjoyed watching him grow up and become successful young man.

Predeceased by her mother and father, Pearl and Peter Reszitnyk; sister, Anna McEachern; brother, Martin Reszitnyk; nephew, Danny McEachern; mother and father-in-law, Peter and Elizabeth Sas; sisters-in-law, Beverly and Audrey Reszitnyk, Tina Shabatowski, and Sylvia Sas; and brothers-in-law, John Sas, Louis Shabatowski, and Howard McEachern.

They had many lifelong friends, colleagues, and neighbours in which they made wonderful memories with.

As per Helen's request there will be no service.

Special thanks to the staff at Southbridge Lakehead Manor for their wonderful care. If friends so desire donations in Helen's memory can be made to the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital or Southbridge Lakehead Manor recreational fund.
